We are very proud of everything that our team put back into the community and provide for charity. Team members are encouraged to get involved with local charity and community projects.
Every year the team vote for a charity to support and support this charity all year. Last year the Force Cancer Charity was chosen and we have raised £2,131.35 for this by:
- A team of 5 completed 'The Nello' a 55 mile cycle in Exeter
- A networking BBQ for young professionals
- A hamper raffle at the Mid Devon & Honiton Shows.
Ths year, the chosen charity of the year is, Children's Hospice South West, and we have so far raised £1051.10 for them through our abseil and hamper raffle. we also help support the following charities with our team being on committees and getting involved in them:
- Get Home Safe www.gethomesafe.me.uk
- Various Young Farmers clubs across Somerset & Devon www.nfyfc.org.uk
- Devon Farmers Benevolent Fund
We also have teams members on the committees for the Somerset Centre of Management in Agriculture and the Agricultural Law Society which are both fantastic associations which support British Agriculture and help continue to drive it forward.
We also participated in the Crewkerne 5k Business Run in 2017 winning the Business Challenge Trophy. All proceeds from the race went to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. A report on the run can be found here.
Every other year, we jointly organise a charity ball in the Honiton Show member’s pavilion. Not only are we a huge part in organising the event, doing all of the tickets and planning it is also very well supported by our team who all thoroughly enjoy getting dressed up for a night of partying!
The proceeds from this event all go to the chosen charities which in 2018 were Devon Air Ambulance and Devon Freewheelers.
Encouraging people from a young age to think about what they want to do and the careers they wish to pursue is really important to us. We offer a number of work experience placements throughout the year together with some paid summer work opportunities.
Supporting other small local businesses is also key to us; from our external printers to cleaners and marketers we source local businesses through recommendations.
For our team
We don’t just offer our team flexible working arrangements, great benefits including rewards for long service in the form of additional holiday on top of the additional holiday we give above the statutory requirements.
We drive progression from within where ever possible offering equal opportunities and as a minimum annual pay and promotion reviews. We are proud that so many of our team have trained with us and progressed to Manager where they are now helping others follow in their foot steps.
We actively encourage sports activities including charity runs and cycles, group cycles after work, The Spin Bus’ and having an office football team just to name a few. Keeping active is important to both mental and physical health but also helps bond the team.
We have a number of work socials which have included trampolining at Wellington Flip out, ice-skating, cinema and theatre trips, dinners and farm tours.
We actively encourage recycling throughout the business from ink cartridges to milk cartons, cardboard and of course paper. We are moving towards a paperless system to reduce the amounts used.
