Giving Back

We are very proud of everything that our team put back into the community and provide for charity.

Every April, the team vote for a charity to support and we then organise fundraising activities throughout the year. Last year the Children’s Hospice South West was chosen and we raised £1,527.38 for them by:

  • A team of 5 completing an abseil down Canonteign Falls, the largest man-made waterfall in England
  • A hamper raffle at the Honiton Show in August
  • An office bake off competition
  • Wearing our best outfits for festive fashion Friday in December

This year, the chosen charity of the year is Mind in Somerset and we have so far donated £200.00 from our Young Professionals Vs Young Farmers quiz back in June. We also help support the following charities through being on committees and getting involved in their fundraising activities:

Get Home Safe - www.gethomesafe.me.uk

Various Young Farmers clubs across Somerset & Devon - www.nfyfc.org.uk

Devon Farmers Benevolent Fund

Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution

We also have team members on the committees for the Somerset Centre of Management in Agriculture, the Agricultural Law Society which are both fantastic associations which support British Agriculture and help continue to drive it forward.

Every other year, we jointly organise a charity ball with Honiton Young Farmers in August. Not only do we play a huge part in organising the event, it is also very well supported by our team who all thoroughly enjoy getting dressed up for a night of partying! In 2018 we raised £6,464.77 which was donated to the Devon Freewheelers and Devon Air Ambulance. Plans for the 2021 ball have begun and the committee look forward to raising more money for local charities.

The Community

Encouraging people from a young age to think about what they want to do and the careers they wish to pursue is really important to us. We offer a number of work experience placements throughout the year together with some paid summer work opportunities.

Supporting other small local businesses is also key to us; from our internal printers to cleaners and ad-hoc external printing, we source and use local businesses through recommendations wherever possible.

For Our Team

We offer our team flexible working hours, great benefits including rewards for long service in the form of additional holiday on top of the statutory requirements and provide all members of staff with free life insurance cover.

We drive progression from within wherever possible, offering equal opportunities and a minimum annual pay and promotion reviews. We are proud that so many of our team have trained with us and progressed to a Manager role where they are now helping others follow in their footsteps.

We actively encourage sports activities including charity runs, cycles and group cycles after work. Keeping active is important to both mental and physical health but also helps bond the team.

We have a number of work socials which have included trampolining at Wellington Flip out, cinema and theatre trips, dinners and farm tours.

Environment

We actively encourage recycling throughout the business from ink cartridges to milk cartons, cardboard and of course paper. We also buy refillable soap to help cut down on single-use plastics. Our confidential papers are shredded and recycled by Shred-It and we are moving towards a paper light system throughout our office to help reduce the amount of paper used.
